WILDWOOD — Unemployment may be rising in New Jersey, but not at Morey’s Piers, which held its first seasonal job fair on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mariner’s Landing Pier, Schellenger Avenue and the Boardwalk.
Up for grabs were numerous seasonal, part time jobs for individuals 16 years of age and older. “With a down economy like this, we wanted to make a statement that we’re hiring,” said Executive Vice President Jack Morey in a release.
During the job fair, applicants will be directed by greeters and signage to the recruiting reception area inside the Pier, by the Super Scooters ride.
Onsite interviews will be held by the following departments: Waterpark Operations, Ride Operations, Games, Food and Beverage and Park Services. Information about the positions, including qualifications, hours, incentives, and compensation will be provided to applicants.
While supplies last, applicants can quench both hunger and thirst with free pretzels and water, also during the job fair, random prizes will be awarded to some lucky attendees.
“Interested applicants will be interviewed that day,” said Operations Manager, Mike Wampler. “Selected individuals will be contacted after the Job Fair and invited to join the 2009 team,” he said.
Dino Fazio, Director of Pier Operations, can’t promise how many people will be hired as a result of the job fair. “It really will depend on the applicants. We’re looking for the best of the best to help us provide our guests with the highest quality experience possible,” he explained.
