Middle’s Economic Development Council Provides Loan for Habitat ReStore

Habitat ReStore loan closing 2-7-17

By Press Release

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE—As part of its ongoing efforts to encourage business development in the community, Middle Township’s Economic Development Council recently provided Habitat for Humanity with an $85,000 Business Assistance Loan to help facilitate the opening of a ReStore retail location. Habitat ReStores are retail stores that sell new and used goods that have been donated by individuals, distributors, manufacturers and dealers. Typical inventory is home improvement hard goods including furniture, home accessories, building materials of all types and appliances. The Cape May County ReStore will be located at the Court House Village Shopping Plaza along Court House-South Dennis Road in the former site of Super Fresh, adjacent to Big Lots.
Offering low-interest loans ranging from $10,000 to $100,000, the Business Assistance Loan Program can be utilized for machinery and equipment purchases, leasehold improvements and the purchase, and renovation of owner-occupied commercial or industrial real estate. The Economic Development Council also features a Façade Improvement Program, offering loans from $5,000 to $35,000.
“Middle Township is very fortunate to have Habitat for Humanity choose our town in which to place their ReStore,” said Middle Township Economic Development Council Chairman Brian Murphy. “This facility will benefit the Middle Township residents, Habitat for Humanity and the local business community. We wish Shawn Lockyear and her staff good luck with their new store.”
“Habitat for Humanity has done so much for our community, and the ReStore will be a wonderful addition to Middle Township. I am very pleased that they were able to utilize the loan program,” said Mayor Michael Clark. “This is just one of the available tools to help develop, promote and assist both existing and new businesses in the Township. We are working hard to encourage development and promote job creation and retention while showcasing all that our community has to offer. Middle is a great place to do business!”
The Economic Development Council of Middle Township provides support and direction in the Township’s economic development initiatives in an effort to enhance the overall viability, sustainability and strategic opportunities for new investment in the community.
