Middle Economic Development Council Announces New Chairman

By Press Release

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – The Middle Township Economic Development Council announces that Brian Murphy will be appointed as its new Chairman effective March 1, 2016. Murphy, a Professional Engineer and Land Planner, is the managing partner of MV Engineering of Cape May Court House and has served as a member of Middle’s Economic Council for three years. He is also a Board member of the Middle Township Chamber of Commerce. Murphy’s work includes general civil engineering in the local community for over 30 years. Murphy has served as the Municipal Engineer in West Cape May and Stone Harbor, and currently holds the position in Upper Deerfield Township. He also currently serves as the Land Planner for the City of North Wildwood and its Planning/Zoning Board.
“The Township is very grateful to Carol for her 10 years of service. Her forward thinking and sense of initiative advanced the Council in many areas and we will miss her as Chair. However, she leaves us in good hands,” said Mayor Michael Clark. “Brian’s professionalism and knowledge have served the Council and our community well, and I am pleased that it will continue to do so,” said Mayor Michael Clark. “His knack for explaining complicated topics so that they become understandable will be quite helpful as the Council continues to navigate complex issues.”
Murphy takes over the Chairman role from outgoing Chairwoman, Carol Struett. “I’m excited to see what Brian Murphy can accomplish as he takes on this new role. We have worked together for many years on the Council and he is well-versed and informed on business and economic issues that matter for municipalities,” said Struett. “We’ve built a strong economic program for Middle Township in the past few years and moving forward, Brian will be able to build on that program. The future looks very bright for the area.” Struett will remain on the Council as an advisor to assist in the transition.
The Middle Township Economic Development Council’s mission is to encourage and support business growth. Currently, the Economic Council is working on revising and updating its loan policy for the Façade Loan program and the Business Assistance Loan program. The Council is also working on a potential Tax Abatement program for commercial development and launching the Property Tax Reward Card Program for Middle Township businesses and residents.
