COURT HOUSE — Melissa Torres, RN in the Intensive Care Unit at Cape Regional Medical Center, is the Service Excellence of the Month award recipient for July, 2013.
Ms. Torres was nominated for the Service Excellence Award by colleagues in the Respiratory Care Department. The nomination stated, “Melissa provides professional and compassionate care to all of her patients. She is an exemplary employee who is always willing to go out of her way to help a patient or co-worker. Melissa always has a smile on her face and can make her co-workers and patients laugh in any situation. She is a joy to work with; she cares for her patients with an added sweetness. Melissa consistently goes above and beyond and is a pleasure to work with.”
“Melissa is a team player and is good with patients and their families,” stated Doreen Deckert, RN, MSN, Nursing Supervisor. “She is well-deserving of this honor,” added Louise Baclasky, RN, BSN, CNA-BC, Administrative Director of Critical Care Services.
“I am shocked!” stated Torres. “I would like to thank my friends in the Respiratory Care Department for nominating me. I appreciate each one for all they do to assist me on a daily basis. We all get along so well – we work together for the patients entrusted to our care. We definitely need each other to provide exceptional care.”
Melissa received her nursing degree from Cumberland County College, and she joined the Cape Regional Medical Center Team in July, 2009 as a Senior Nurse Extern. In September, 2009 she joined the staff as a registered nurse serving on the 2 East Patient Care Unit. She transferred to the Intensive Care Unit in Dec., 2010.
Melissa and her daughters, Brianna and Destinee, live in Millville. When she is not working, she is a busy “cheer” mom – cheering her girls on in cheerleading, dance and tumbling.
