COURT HOUSE — On July 14, 1969, the hospital was opened only 18 years when Harrison Bolling joined the staff at Cape Regional Medical Center (then Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital). Forty years later, Harrison, or as he is affectionately known, “Power Plant Harry,” continues to provide exceptional service to the facility, patients, and staff at our Medical Center, according to a release.
Joanne Carrocino, president and chief executive officer, Jeff Andrews, administrative director, Support Services, Bob Crane, director, Plant Operations and many of Harrison’s colleagues made a surprise visit to the boiler room on Jan. 8 to present his 40 Year Service Award and to personally say “thank you” for 40 years of service at the Medical Center. With a beaming smile,
“Power Plant Harry” humbly accepted the pin as he turned to Bob Crane and stated, “You tricked me!”
“Congratulations, Harry, on this incredible milestone of 40 years of dedicated service to the patients and staff at Cape Regional Medical Center.” stated Carrocino.
“When I first started working in the boiler room so many years ago, the boilers had to be wheeled out; the hospital has changed so much since that time. I even retired for a week a while back. My wife, Sandra, loves those decorating shows, and she loves to have me build what she sees on the shows. That is one of the reasons I came out of retirement,” Bolling shared with a laugh.
“Power Plant Harry” is a Certified Blue Seal Engineer.
He and his wife, Sandra, have been married for 21 years and live in Woodbine.
When he is not working, he tells us he loves to go shopping with his wife on the weekends and work on their home.
The couple has five grown children, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
