WILDWOOD — Majhadi Marrow, a seventh grader at Wildwood Middle School, was one of the 25 students from across New Jersey that were honored as an Outstanding AAA School Safety Patroller of the Year.
The students were honored on May 19, at an awards luncheon held at Mastoris’ Restaurant in Bordentown for their work as outstanding AAA School Safety Patrollers.
The students, ranging from third to eighth grades, came from 11 counties in AAA Mid-Atlantic’s Northern Region. Master of Ceremonies for the event was Roden Lightbody, Ocean County Traffic engineer. Lightbody has served as a county employee for 47 years, using his knowledge, energy, and desire to promote and educate the public about traffic safety.
“AAA School Safety Patrols play an extraordinarily important role in ensuring the safety of hundreds of thousands of school children daily throughout the AAA Mid-Atlantic region,” Ken Chrusz, Safety Services manager, AAA Mid-Atlantic Foundation for Safety and Education pointed out.
“The patrols being honored have taken enormous responsibility and have risen to the top by demonstrating excellence and leadership as patrols on a daily basis.”
Each student was awarded a plaque and a $150 savings bond. Selection criteria included, but was not limited to leadership, dependability, academics, promptness, neatness and industriousness.
