CAPE MAY— On Sun., Nov. 7 at 3:30 p.m., the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary and hosting its Annual Meeting at the Baptist Church Hall (second floor), Columbia Avenue and Gurney Street.
The winner of the Cape May Getaway raffle will be chosen, MAC’s Honor Award will be given to Diane Hutchinson, Scarecrow Alley awards will be presented, and a special presentation entitled, “It’s A Wonderful MAC” will be performed at the meeting.
MAC is proud to present the 2010 MAC Honor Award to its outgoing Board President, Diane Hutchinson. As co-proprietor of the Fairthorne Bed and Breakfast Inn with husband Ed, Diane has long been one of MAC’s most stalwart supporters, generously contributing to the Cape May Music Festival and Legacy Fund, opening her house for countless benefit house tours and providing complimentary accommodations for numerous MAC guests.
Since joining the MAC Board in July 2005, Diane chaired the Membership Committee and this year’s “A Night in White” Education Gala, and donated the first floor and grounds of her Fairthorne Cottage for the 2010 Designer Show House. It is in her past three year’s service as MAC President that she has truly left her mark.
What would life in Cape May be like without MAC? Find out during the entertaining presentation of “It’s A Wonderful MAC.” Borrowing from the holiday classic “It’s A Wonderful Life” and scripted by MAC Board member, Pastor Jeff Elliott, you’ll see the Spirits of Cape May Past, Present and Future explore what life would be like in Cape May without MAC.
The winner of the Cape May Getaway raffle will receive $2,500 worth of Cape May gift certificates, which can be used at a wide variety of Cape May accommodations, restaurants, retail stores and attractions any time of the year, plus gift certificates to area shops and restaurants, and tours and event tickets.
The prizes for the Scarecrow Alley winners are divided into categories. The first place prize in the “Individuals or Families” category is a Cape May Gift Certificate, the first place prize in the “Clubs, Organizations, Non-profits, Churches and Schools” category is a pizza party, and first place winners in the “Businesses” category will receive a half page ad in the holiday or winter issue of “This Week in Cape May.”
The 40th Anniversary Celebration/Annual Meeting is free and open to the public. Light refreshments from the Carriage House Tearoom & Café will be served.
The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) is a multifaceted not-for-profit organization committed to promoting the preservation, interpretation, and cultural enrichment of the Cape May region for its residents and visitors.
