CAPE MAY – Roger Henry of North Cape May, N.J., shown here on the second floor porch of the 2014-15 Cape May Designer Show House, “The Ocean Victorian” at 25 Ocean Street, Cape May, N.J., is the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) Volunteer of the Month for December, 2014. MAC Volunteer Coordinator Barbara Hubmaster nominated Roger for all that he does for MAC. That ranges from helping out MAC’s maintenance team to volunteering at the Designer Show House to assisting with MAC house tours. Every Tuesday, Roger can be seen polishing the brass in MAC trolleys, helping to keep them shiny for public tours. Volunteers are needed in December because the Designer Show House is open daily for self-guided tours, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., through Jan. 3, 2015 (except Dec. 25) and for guided tours in the evening at 7 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays and Mondays, through Jan. 2, 2015 (except Dec. 11 and Dec. 25). Roger volunteers whenever he is called upon. “Roger is someone I rely on because he always says ‘yes’ when I ask for his help,” Hubmaster said. MAC benefits from the expertise of members of the community in a variety of ways. The Volunteer of the Month award is given to a person who demonstrates a high degree of dedication, commitment and constancy to MAC’s volunteer program.
