The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) presented the Cape May Community Food Closet with a cash donation of $541 and two shopping carts of donated groceries Nov. 21 at the First Presbyterian Church of Cape May. The groceries and donations were collected at MAC’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony held on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the 1879 Emlen Physick Estate, when an estimated 1,000 people came to the estate to see Santa Claus flip the switch that illuminates the huge evergreen tree on the estate grounds and enjoyed warm beverages and cookies, free self-guided tours of the 1879 Physick House Museum and visiting with Santa Claus. The food closet provides supplemental groceries to people in need who live in Cape May, West Cape May, Cape May Point and Lower Township.
