Lower Ranks Highest in Herald Poll

By Joe Hart

RIO GRANDE — After New Jersey Monthly magazine published its list of the best places to live in the state in which many of this county’s coastal communities finished poorly, the Herald decided to run a poll of its own.
Many local residents think the magazine’s list is bogus, so the Herald polled its online readers to determine, which local municipality is the best place to live in Cape May County.
A total of 132 readers responded with Lower Township receiving the most votes.
At 9 a.m. yesterday, the results were:
• Lower Township, 19 votes, 14 percent
• Middle Township, 15 votes, 11 percent
• Avalon, 12 votes, 9 percent
• Dennis Township, 12 votes, 9 percent
• Cape May, 11 votes, 8 percent
• Wildwood, 10 votes, 8 percent
• Wildwood Crest, 9 votes, 7 percent
• Upper Township, 8 votes, 6 percent
• North Wildwood, 7 votes, 5 percent
• Sea Isle City, 6 votes, 5 percent
• Cape May Point, 5 votes, 4 percent
• Stone Harbor, 4 votes, 3 percent
• Woodbine, 4 votes, 3 percent
• Ocean City, 4 votes, 3 percent
• West Wildwood, 3 votes, 2 percent
• West Cape May, 3 votes, 2 percent
