COURT HOUSE – Henry Brzyski, Chairman of the Cape Regional Health System, has announced the appointment of Vicki D. Lachman, PhD, MBE, APRN, FAAN, to serve as Board Member of the Cape Regional Medical Center Foundation.
“It is my pleasure to appoint Vicki to the Foundation during this critical time in raising philanthropic support for the Medical Center,” stated Brzyski. “Vicki’s professional knowledge and experience in healthcare is a true asset for the Foundation Board.”
Dr. Lachman is the Chairman of the Board of Chestnut Hill Hospital. She is also a Clinical Professor at Drexel University, College of Nursing and Health Professionals. Her primary appointment is in the Master’s Graduate Program where she teaches Ethics and is the Track Coordinator for the Innovation and Intra/entrepreneurship in Advanced Practice Nursing program. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Psychiatric Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Lachman obtained a Doctoral Degree in Education in 1983 from Temple University. Dr. Lachman has consulted with over 350 healthcare organizations and has given over 2,500 presentations at various organizations and conferences.
In 2002, Dr. Lachman completed a Masters in Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania with a focus on the ethical issues at end-of-life. In 2008, Dr. Lachman was selected to serve on the American Nurses Association Center for Ethics and Human Rights Advisory Board. She also serves on two ethics committees and writes the quarterly Ethics, Policy and Law column in the MedSurg Nursing Journal.
Dr. Lachman has authored over 100 publications and her third book, Ethical Challenges in Healthcare: Developing Your Moral Compass, was released in June, 2009. The majority of her publications are on leadership and ethics topics.
In 2011, Dr. Lachman received the President’s award from the International Society for Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurses for her 15 years of dedicated service as Membership Chair. In Oct. 2011, she was inducted as a Fellow into the American Academy of Nursing.
Dr. Lachman resides in Avalon, NJ.
