POMONA, NJ – Former U.S. Representative Patrick Kennedy and his wife Amy Kennedy left the Roger B. Hansen Center for Childbirth at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC) Mainland Campus, Pomona, New Jersey, with their new son, Owen Patrick, accompanied by Owen’s big sister Harper, four years old, April 17.
The Kennedys welcomed Owen Patrick at 5:25 p.m., April 15. He weighed 6 pounds, 15.7 ounces, and was 19 ½ inches long at birth.
“He is a joy in our lives,” said Mr. Kennedy of the couple’s new son. “With Harper, his older sister, we’re very much excited about the future. Thanks to AtlantiCare we have a lot to look forward to.”
Before heading to their Brigantine home, the Kennedys thanked Blair Bergen, MD, FAOG, FACS, chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at ARMC, who led the delivery team, and the Center for Childbirth staff.
The Kennedys also shared their appreciation for The Arc of Atlantic County. The Kennedys met in 2010 at The Arc’s annual tribute dinner for which Patrick Kennedy, who was a co-founder of the Congressional Down Syndrome Caucus, was the honoree.
Deborah Davies, PhD, chief executive officer, The Arc of Atlantic County, presented Owen Patrick with a onesie imprinted with the words “Made Possible by The Arc of Atlantic County,” before the family left the hospital for its Brigantine home.
