COURT HOUSE – Kate Kahana, Emergency Department Care Manager at Cape Regional Medical Center, has been honored with the Service Excellence Award for September in recognition of her continuous superior customer service. Kate has been recognized as the type of employee that provides extraordinary care for our patients.
“This summer, Kate managed to coordinate care for an elderly patient who was confused and homeless. She spent time researching if the patient had family, discussed with the healthcare team regarding medical necessity for hospitalization and discussed with family if they would participate in the patient’s continued care,” offered JoAnn McGettigan, Director of Social Work/Case Management. “Kate’s knowledge of what questions to ask helped her determine what resources she could use to coordinate the patient’s care. Through all of Kate’s work, the patient was discharged safely.”
“I was very surprised and honored with this award. Everyone in my department is to be recognized since I don’t do anything that they don’t do every single day,” stated Kahana. “We all strive to provide the highest quality care to each and every patient.”
Kate Kahana joined the team at Cape Regional Medical Center in October, 2011. Kate and her husband, Ed, live in Clermont and have two daughters. In her free time, Kate enjoys quilting and playing golf.
