June is Jammin’ in the Wildwoods

By Press Release

WILDWOOD – Memorial Day 2010 has come and gone, but the Wildwoods are offering plenty to do throughout the month of June, before schools let out and when summer officially kicks off.

In addition to FREE beaches and an award-winning boardwalk full of amusements, dining and shopping, the Wildwoods are also set to host a variety of events to help families get ready for a fun-filled summer at the Jersey shore.

The Wildwoods’ Mummers Brigade Weekend and Parade will kick off the June festivities with a weekend of strutting and celebration for the entire family on Saturday, June 12. FREE for everyone, the parade takes place on 2nd and Olde New Jersey Avenues in North Wildwood at 4:45 p.m. and will feature the top seven brigades from this year’s New Year’s Day Parade which took place in Philadelphia, PA. The brigades will perform without the pressure of competition, and spectators will be able to get up-close views of the beautiful costumes and intricate dance steps these eccentric performers display as they parade through North Wildwood.

June will also feature the 87th Annual National Marbles Tournament in the Wildwoods. Taking place Monday, June 21 through Thursday, June 24, the tournament will feature the country’s top “mibsters” vying for the title of “king” and “queen” of marbles, as well as national honors, college scholarships and many other prizes and awards during the tournament. The tournament is FREE for spectators and will take place daily, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Ringer Stadium, located at Wildwood Avenue and the beach.

The fun in June continues with three spectacular events: the North Wildwood Original Italian-American Festival, the Colossal Coastal Roller Expo and Morey’s Piers’ Cape Express Beach Blast Soccer Tournament. Taking place during the last weekend in June, these events will mark the end of school and the beginning of a fun-filled summer.

The North Wildwood Original Italian-American Festival – taking place Friday, June 25 through Sunday, June 27 on Olde New Jersey Avenue, will celebrate Italian heritage and will include FREE live entertainment, food and craft vendors, and the festival’s first ever Meatball Rolling Relay on Saturday.

The Wildwoods Convention Center will host the Colossal Coastal Roller Expo featuring a full day of hard-hitting roller derby action, along with a parade on Friday, June 24 at 6 p.m., and competition plus other skate-inspired festivities all day long on Saturday, June 26. Tickets are $15 in advance; $20 at the door; kids under 10 are FREE; and military and student discounts are offered for $10 with ID.
