CAPE MAY — Joe McLaughlin, of Cold Spring, is the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) Volunteer of the Month for Feb., 2014. He was nominated by MAC Volunteer Coordinator Barbara Hubmaster for the time he spent this past holiday season making hot chocolate and hot cider for customers during tours, including Christmas Candlelight House Tours and the Lamplighter Tours.
“Joe is a go-to guy,” said Hubmaster, who said he is so reliable she can call on him whenever she needs volunteer help and he is more than willing to step up and pitch in. “He is always helpful and willing to lend a hand. He has such a nice manner and is great with our guests,” she said.
Husband of MAC Director of Retail Operations Emily McLaughlin, Joe is also often seen helping out in the retail shop and throughout the year at MAC festivals and events. MAC benefits from the expertise of members of the community in a variety of ways.
The Volunteer of the Month award is given to a person who demonstrates a high degree of dedication, commitment and constancy to MAC’s volunteer program.
