Jazz, Film Festivals Named State Favorites

By Joe Hart

TRENTON — Cape May County festivals were judged the state’s most loved in the first annual JerseyArts.com People’s Choice Awards.
The Cape May Jazz Festival was named the favorite for music and the Cape May NJ State Film Festival for cinema.
The Cape May Film Festival finished with 621 votes compared to the runner up New Jersey Film Festival with 335 votes. The Cape May Jazz Festival received 642 votes, exactly 100 more than the second-place finisher Appel Farm Arts and Music Festival.
“We’re extremely honored that we were named favorite music festival,” said Carol Stone, third vice president on the Cape May Jazz Festival board. “We’ve been the largest and best jazz festival in New Jersey for some time and it’s great to be recognized by the people.”
Stone, who was nominated last year by Jazz writers as one of the best festival producers, told the Herald that within Jazz circles, the Cape May Festival is considered one of the best regional festivals in the country.
