Janet Coupland is Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities’ (MAC) Volunteer of the Month for March

Janet Coupland

By Press Release

Janet Coupland of Cape May is the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) Volunteer of the Month for March 2017. Janet is retired from a truly global career as an insurance technology executive. She has been a MAC Interpreter for close to 10 years. She generously brings her sharp intelligence, corporate business experience and creativity to all she does at MAC.
Janet was nominated for Volunteer of the Month by Nanci Coughlin, MAC’s Director of Tour Operations, for several reasons. Janet was the creative mind behind one of MAC’s newest and most popular trolley tours, the Cape Mayhem Trolley Tour. She researched and wrote the tour, describing many of the bizarre customs of Victorian life, and then helped train her colleagues. Janet has also attended all of MAC’s Staff Advisory Team meetings and reliably takes and types up the minutes of the meetings for the team. Anyone who has served on any board or committee in any capacity knows that keeping the minutes is as thankless a job as clean-up duty. But Janet is well-known for her steadfastness and willingness to do whatever is needed. In addition, Janet was a main resource for staff and volunteers this past summer when MAC added a new tour component to tours of the 1879 Emlen Physick Estate – a self-guided tour option. Janet assisted the tour office in handling the logistical challenges of this new, popular tour offering.
“Janet has been a great asset to MAC ever since she joined the organization as an Interpreter,” said Coughlin. “I wanted to recognize her for her willingness to step up and do what is needed, since I rely on Janet so often and she brings so much to the table. Janet has given a great deal to the MAC organization and we are very grateful to her.”
The Volunteer of the Month award is given to a person who demonstrates a high degree of dedication, commitment and constancy to MAC’s volunteer program.
