CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Jan Bove, RN, CDE, Staff Nurse at the Diabetes Center at Cape Regional Medical Center has achieved Certification as a Diabetes Educator (CDE).
“Achieving Diabetes Educator Certification is an incredible accomplishment,” stated Patti Birchall, RN, BSN, CDE, Program Manager of The Diabetes Center at Cape Regional Medical Center. “Jan’s dedication to compassionate nursing and her expertise in diabetes care significantly impacts the patients we serve at The Diabetes Center at Cape Regional.”
Ms. Bove graduated from Mercer Medical Center as a Registered Nurse and has been a part of the Cape Regional Medical Center team since 1991. Her clinical background includes 20 years of service in Pediatrics and two years in Same Day Surgery. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Ministry and Christian Leadership from Carirn University.
Jan, and her husband, Mark have been married for 34 years, have two children and a grandson. The couple lives in West Cape May. In her spare time, she loves the outdoors and gardening, and she is very active in her church, Seashore Community Church of the Nazarene in Cape May, New Jersey.
Candidates for Diabetes Educator Certification must meet rigorous eligibility requirements to be able to take the examination. Achieving certification status demonstrates to patients with diabetes and employers that the healthcare professional possesses distinct and specialized knowledge, thereby promoting quality of care for people with diabetes.
The Diabetes Center is Joint Commission certified for its Inpatient Diabetes Program, as well as being recognized by the American Diabetes Association. The Center is staffed by Certified Diabetes Educators and a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals which includes physicians, pharmacists, and dietitians. The Center conducts ADA Diabetes Self-Management Classes at various times during the day and evening throughout each month; the cost of this program is covered by most insurances. The monthly Diabetes Support Group is also held at various times to accommodate patients’ schedules. The Diabetes Center has two locations – Cape Regional Medical Center in Cape May Court House and Hope Medical Commons in Marmora – to better serve our patients.
