CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Teresa McCarthy, Infusion Therapy Department Secretary, Donna Mack-Alston, RN and Marcie Farrell, RN, Infusion Therapy Nurses have been named Cape Regional Health System’s Difference Maker Team of the Year. This trio sees a variety of patients with medical issues, ranging from the need for antibiotic therapy to the administration of chemotherapy. When every patient enters the Infusion Therapy Department, this trio of kind, compassionate caregivers greets them with a smile and a thorough explanation of what to expect. Their careful attention to detail, from scheduling to transportation to patient care, makes their patients feel safe and very special.
In August, this trio started collecting $20 a pay so that they could have a sizable amount by Christmas to distribute to patients in need. They provided eight families with a much brighter holiday—and they truly made a difference.
Throughout the year, they physically check on patients when they know they are not feeling well or living alone, sometimes bringing dinner and a smile to the patient’s face. They have attended services for patients who have passed away with much appreciation from the families. Each day, this team creates a caring and compassionate environment and is truly making a difference in the lives of so many.
“It is with pride and gratitude that we congratulate Donna, Marcie and Terri on being awarded the Difference Maker Team of the Year,” stated Deborah Baehser, RN, MSHA, Vice President of Patient Services. “Their continual commitment to exceptional patient care, and the compassion and kindness they share with their patients is an inspiration to our entire Cape Regional Team. We are so proud and appreciative of them, and we congratulate them on receiving this honor.”
