In Sea Isle, it’s Fish Alley

By Press Release

In celebration of the City’s rich fishing tradition, Sea Isle City will hold its 1st Annual Fish Alley Festival on Saturday, June 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Though small in stature, Sea Isle is one of the five largest working fishing ports in the State of New Jersey.
The Festival will be held at 42nd Place and Park Road. Fish Alley is located just south on Park Road at the intersection of JFK Boulevard, the main road into Sea Isle.
There will be plenty of activities on Saturday for all ages to enjoy, experience and learn. The Sea Isle City Historical Museum will display the history of the City and its fishing industry while The Wetlands Institute will have its turtle touch tank, including Terrapin Hatchlings and rehabbed turtles.
Gillian’s Funland of Sea Isle City will offer a special Fish Alley Festival rate for amusement rides starting at 1-4 p.m.to help commemorate the legacy of Fish Alley.
If you’re not one for amusement rides, maybe you’ll be interested in some of the other “rides” that will be at the Festival as there will be a free classic car show in the municipal parking lot. Also, awards will be given out for the “Best in Show” and “Mayor’s Choice.” The awards ceremony will take place at 2 p.m.
Live entertainment will also include the barber-shop-quartet sounds of the Cape Shore Sweet Adelines performing at 1p.m. While listening to the Sweet Adelines, chow down on a delectable selection of seafood from some of the best restaurants in Sea Isle.
Local vendors will also be on hand, displaying unique arts and crafts, as well as new fishing equipment and providing demonstrations so that you, too, can take part in the rich, enduring fishing tradition that the city will be celebrating.
Fish Alley has a storied tradition in Sea Isle City. Years ago, when asked where to buy fresh fish in Sea Isle, tourists were directed to Fish Alley. Recently, Fish Alley was officially recognized by the city to honor the enduring fishing legacy of Sea Isle City.
So come out and celebrate Sea Isle’s thriving fishing industry with food, fun, and most importantly, fishing!
