COURT HOUSE — Cape Regional Medical Center hosted a special celebratory luncheon on April 19, at The Grand Hotel in Cape May in recognition of the volunteer team and in conjunction with National Healthcare Volunteer Appreciation Week.
With more than 175 volunteers and hospital staff in attendance, the event included a custom video spotlighting the volunteers in their various service roles.
The volunteers were congratulated for total service hours’ attainment ranging from 100 hours to an amazing 15,750. Six volunteers were especially recognized as their names were added to the esteemed roster of the “5 & 20 Club” with total service hours equaling or exceeding 5,000 or total length of service at 20 years or more.
Phyllis and Lewis Waxmonsky were given tribute as recipients of the Volunteer Spirit Award in recognition of their extraordinary commitment to the variety of assignments to which they are committed as well as their willingness to help as needed with special projects.
Grace Havel was honored in a surprise presentation as the Special Volunteer of the Year. special trip to the hospital for this assignment.
Havel’s exemplary service was honored in April, 2009 at which time she was presented with the Special Touch Volunteer of the Month Award; the Volunteer of the Year recipient is selected from the esteemed listing of the year’s monthly Special Touch Volunteer awardees.
