MILLVILLE — The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey is celebrating ten years of supporting community organizations throughout the state by awarding one of its long-time grantees a special anniversary present: An extra $10,000 for general operating support. The gift recipient, the Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center, had just received separate Foundation approval of a $10,000 award for its Glasstown Collective Education Program. Since this marked The Foundation’s 1000th grant, the center netted the bonus $10,000 gift. Representatives from The Foundation – the charitable arm of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey – presented ceremonial grant checks today to the Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center.
“When selecting our grantees over the past decade, we’ve looked to identify and support organizations that are making a positive difference in the communities they serve and the lives they touch,” said Jonathan R. Pearson, Executive Director of The Foundation. “Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center has consistently excelled in offering quality programs, so we were thrilled to learn that this organization became the one-thousandth grant award recipient.”
The grant for the Glasstown Collective Education Program will support children’s programs developed to provide interactive arts education. The program addresses critical social and developmental goals, as well as creative goals that align with New Jersey’s Core Content Curriculum Standards and educational criteria.
“Since 2006, we have been fortunate to receive more than $100,000 of support from the Horizon Foundation,” said Susan Gogan, Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center Executive Director. “On behalf of all our members, we thank the Foundation for its ongoing commitment to arts education and the well-being of the entire NJ community.”
