MILLVILLE – Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center has received a grant in the amount of $10,000 from The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey. The grant supports the Glasstown Collective Education Program, a group of children’s programs that serve regional students ages 3 to18.
The programs of the Glasstown Collective were developed to address interactive arts education, basic skills needs and a lack of out-of-classroom experience in the public school system. WheatonArts holds the conviction that the arts must be an integral part of the education of all citizens and there should be special emphasis on school age children, as a part of their basic education. WheatonArts is in a unique position to address the gaps and absence of arts programming in local schools. The Glasstown Collective specifically creates opportunities for students from the Millville Child Family Center and Cumberland County Public Schools and for students currently under the supervision of New Jersey Juvenile Justice Commission.
The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey promotes health, well-being and quality of life across the state by supporting charitable organizations. The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey was founded by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield in 2004 to provide funding and support for charitable organizations; to date, the Horizon Foundation has made more than 700 grant awards, totaling more than $23 million to NJ non-profits.
