Located on Hand Avenue in downtown Cape May Court House is a new shop selling anything but junk. At Mama’s Junk, you’ll find unique and vintage home décor, furniture and gift items for every home and heart.
Known by many as the “Chip and Joanna” of Cape May County, owners Kirstie and Justin started the concept for Mama’s Junk back in August 2016. Kirstie describes the shop as “Fixer Upper” inspired. Aside from Justin owning a landscaping business and Kirstie owning SunTastic Tanning Salon, the couple also flips houses. Kirstie loves decorating and always stages the houses when the renovations are complete, and one day decided to take that passion and talent and turn it into a shop to help others decorate their own homes.
“I really wanted to create an experience for the people of Cape May County that they can’t get elsewhere,” Kirstie explains, “and show people how they can use different décor pieces in ways they wouldn’t usually think of.”
Kirstie originally wanted to make the store a “junk” shop, selling estate sale and auction items. But when she wasn’t satisfied with the items she was finding, she started purchasing reproduced vintage products. Now, the store displays a mix of new items with an old-fashioned feel and antique treasures.
After running the shop online only for the past year, Kirstie and Justin are excited to finally open a storefront for Mama’s Junk at 204 Hand Ave., Cape May Court House. Here, you’ll find home décor, refinished and handmade furniture, soy candles, garden planters, a botanical shop with artificial florals, wreaths, pillows and more. You’ll even come across several brand name items like the popular Rae Dunn collection. With a wide variety of items at a range of prices, there’s something for everyone at Mama’s Junk!
Mama’s Junk is now open to the public, so be sure to stop in and pick up the perfect pieces to warm your home. Hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shop online at mamasjunkco.com. For more information, call (609) 465-7900.
