COURT HOUSE – The 9th Annual 7 Mile Island Home & Health Show held on Aug. 10, was a huge success! The Show hosted 64 home and health vendors at the Avalon Elementary School – the vendors’ colorful and informative displays created an atmosphere of creativity, inspiration and learning.
Returning for the second year was “The Doctor is In” where guests of the show spoke face-to-face with physicians and healthcare professionals from Cape Regional Medical Center in a wide variety of specialties. “The Home & Health Show Committee would like to thank Dr. Monique Scally, Dr. Christopher Zitnay, Dr. Richard Michner, Dr. William Bradway, Dr. Jeffrey Tenner, Dr. Larry Paolini, Dr. John McAllister, and Dr. David Cho for making this event a great success by sharing their expertise with the more than 800 guests,” stated Joanne Carrocino, FACHE, President and CEO of Cape Regional Medical Center.
The Parish Nurse Program at Cape Regional Medical Center provided complimentary health screenings, pulmonary function tests were provided by the Cardiac and Respiratory Care Department and body compositions were provided by the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Department. Paolini Dermatology offered skin cancer screenings; Arthur Childs Medical Home provided massage and the New Jersey Commission for the Blind performed vision screenings. Over 750 health screenings were provided to the attendees of the Show.
Once again the Mid-Jersey Cape Rotary Club supported the day’s activities with their Antique Car Show; which continues to grow in popularity and always draws an enthusiastic crowd.
The Designer House Tour hosted both local and out of town guests and showcased eight of the most magnificent and colorful homes on the prestigious oceanfront communities of Avalon and Stone Harbor, New Jersey.
“The Home & Health Show and Designer House Tour sponsors are always such a support. We would like to thank the Cape Regional Medical Center Medical Staff, Burke Volkswagen, Radzieta Funeral Home, Sturdy Savings Bank, Cape Bank Foundation, Farmers Insurance, AE Litho, Kravet, UBS Financial, Glenn Insurance, Cape Regional Urgent Care, Dr. Michner & Dr. Milio Regional Women’s Health Group, Penn Medicine, Grant Thornton and HGTV Magazine for their generosity,” stated Ellen Kravet Burke, Chairman of the Cape Regional Health System and Co-Chair of the 7 Mile Island Home & Health Show and Designer House Tour. “We are grateful to the invaluable efforts of the 7 Mile Island communities, the staff at the Avalon Elementary School and Avalon Recreation Department, the Plant Operations and Environmental Services staff at Cape Regional Medical Center, the Avalon and Stone Harbor Chambers of Commerce, and the Office of Mayor Martin Pagliughi.
