Herald Website Introduces Facebook Connect

By Rick Racela

RIO GRANDE – For over five years, the Cape May County Herald has maintained its own web development team, aimed at producing online solutions for newspapers. One of its products is this very website that produces this article that you are reading now.
Another product, Herald Marketplace, is the premiere local business directory of Cape May County.
Among the many new features of Marketplace, the most notable one is the introduction of Facebook Connect. To use this feature, click the ‘Facebook Connect’ logo at the top-right of the site (when logged out). You can integrate your Facebook account with your current user, or create a new one during this process.
One of the advantages of this feature is that local business reviews that you post are automatically, but optionally, shared on Facebook. (see images above)
Facebook Connect will help visitors of this website create a stronger community, allowing them to see their friends’ activity, such as which articles they commented on or what businesses they reviewed.
All of this information is optional and controlled by you. To set up your profile, click my account at the top of the page, then click the edit tab above your user bio to access account settings. Here you can upload a bio picture and edit your name. To enable or disable other information that is shared with other users, such as your email address and what content you comment on, click “Personal Information.”
If you are a current Marketplace advertiser and you are interested in all of the new features, please contact your sales representative.
