Harborfest Draws Large Crowd

By Jack Fichter

CAPE MAY – Sunny, dry weather brought a large crowd here to the Nature Center and Delaware Avenue for Harborfest Sat. June 18.
The event included a street festival with a variety of vendors from clothes, artwork, a food court, beer garden and live music from Bluebone. There were sea creatures for kids to pick up in salt water tanks, decoy painting and Pete the Pirate from the Cape May-Lewes Ferry.
A scallop cook off brought a number of talent local chefs. Food available ranged from salads and seafood from the Lobster House to pulled pork sandwiches. Harborfest included crabbing and fishing demonstrations.
A kayak regatta made a loop around the harbor and into Lower Township
