COURT HOUSE — A group of local neighbors fighting a 100 percent affordable housing project proposed in their back yards is looking for some financial support from others who oppose the project.
The “Save the Village Committee” has hired an attorney and a planner to represent them at township Zoning Board hearings against Conifer Realty, which wants to build a 90-unit, federally-subsidized apartment complex on a 9.5-acre tract of land at 8 Railroad Ave., near the township Public Works facility at the end of Mechanic Street.
The committee said the project would be a burden to taxpayers and on local schools as well as a blight on the neighborhood.
The group wants to raise $7,500 to cover the cost of their professionals. They are asking like-minded individuals to donate $50, $100 or whatever they can afford.
