Grand Opening for ‘A Piece of Cake’

By Press Release

Baking fantasy cupcakes and extraordinary specialty cakes is “A Piece of Cake” for Denise Donahue and Cyndi Bohn. That’s right, A Piece of Cake bakery opened in August, and they’ve been quietly baking awesome treats ever since.
Now, they’re ready to offer their cupcakes to all of Cape May County and beyond. To properly launch their shop, Denise and Cyndi are giving a Grand Opening celebration Thanksgiving Day weekend.
Everyone is invited to come out and (bring a coupon) for a free cupcake. Door prizes and give-a-ways will be held Friday and Saturday. Come early and bring your appetite.
The story of how these two ladies came together to open this unique bakery proves that some things in life are just meant to be.
Denise and her husband have owned different businesses throughout the years, but when this location in the Villas opened up; Denise decided to try her life-long dream and open a bakery. While out shopping for baking accessories, Denise bumped into Cyndi Bohn.
They fell into conversation and Cyndi asked Denise if she was the new owner of A Piece of Cake, and telling her that she also noticed that location, and thought about starting a bakery there.
A few minutes later, they realized how much they had in common and Denise offered Cyndi a job. Within three weeks of working together, they became partners.
Both Denise and Cyndi are from the area, married for many years, have children, and grandchildren, with families and friends supporting their new adventure. Especially those family members far away and within harms reach.
Cyndi’s son Teddy and soon to be son-in-law Aaron Stanton are both serving in Afghanistan. Both write regularly and ask for cupcakes from mom. Not an unusual request to be sure, but these cupcakes are especially special, and once a month a shipment of goodies goes out to the boys.
Denise and Cyndi consider themselves to be very fortunate and are excited to show off their new shop and decorating talents. Shortly after Cyndi started working at the bakery, Denise found out that Cyndi had won an amateur cake decorating contest in Morristown. Apparently, the sister and brother-in-law of the Cake Boss were judges and Cyndi won first prize.
Both ladies are extremely creative and inventive with their cakes. So if you can dream it up, and it’s possible, Denise and Cyndi will bake it.
Please stop by the bakery Thanksgiving weekend and check out all of the delectable and fanciful fun.
Come in, pour yourself a cup of great coffee, pull up a chair and…we have free Wi-Fi, so while you’re sitting at the counter enjoying gooey sweetness, you can surf the net.
A Piece of Cake is located at 1816 Bayshore Rd., Villas.
