COURT HOUSE —Betsy German, of Corbin City, has been named the Service Excellence of the Month recipient for April at Cape Regional Medical Center. Kathleen Young, Diabetes Nurse educator, nominated her.
“Betsy went above and beyond the scope of her job description to take care of a pregnant diabetic patient. After interviewing the Spanish-speaking patient using an interpreter, it was determined that the patient had not eaten breakfast or lunch that day and had been skipping meals due to financial constraints.
“Betsy offered to take her food shopping after work to make sure the patient and her baby unborn would have food until the patient could be enrolled in the WIC program. The patient and her husband do not have a car so food shopping or even getting to a food bank is difficult. Betsy’s selfless action aided this woman, her husband, and their unborn child.”
German and her husband, David, live in Corbin City, and have a son, Zachary of Brooklyn, New York. She enjoys gardening and working on her eBay™ business.
