Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of Atlantic and Cape May Counties recently recognized four community partners at their annual Community Awareness events on Oct. 17, 2018. The honorees were recognized for their continued commitment to children living in foster care in our region. The honorees included:
The Colony Club of Ocean City: The Club and their members have, over the years, donated a variety of items to children and youth living in care – including stuffed animals, duffel bags, backpacks, books and schools supplies. This year the Colony Club, as part of The New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs, is part of a two-year, statewide initiative with CASA programs throughout the state to spread awareness and recruit CASA volunteers.
Gregory’s Restaurant and Bar in Somers Point: The Gregory family has been a consistent CASA supporter, specifically donating food for two to three CASA training classes each year for the last five years. This support allows CASA to focus their funding on direct service to children and support of advocates.
The Woodbine Chamber of Commerce: The Chamber has named CASA the beneficiary of their annual fall Car Show and Swamp Meet since 2016 raising funds and awareness within the Woodbine, and car enthusiast, community.
The Charity League of Atlantic County: The Charity League has generously funded the cost of a new and improved volunteer training room at the CASA office. The donation included new tables, chairs, laptops and smart televisions to improve the training experience for all CASA volunteers.
