Find That Shore Vibe at Surf Dog Bar & Grill

Surf Dog

Within the quiet, offshore community of Woodbine lies Surf Dog Bar & Grill, a beach haven among a mostly rural community. Opened in May 2014, this nautical-themed indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant serves as a “beach house” for local campers.
After 30 years of working in food and beverage operations within the casino industry, GM Ford Phifer brought his experience to Jimmy Schroder, the property owner, to build a partnership and create Surf Dog Bar & Grill. A Cape May County native, Ford knew exactly what this offshore area needed. Ford and Jimmy wanted to open a place dedicated to local campground visitors who don’t often get the beach bar experience. The result: a kid friendly, family oriented restaurant and bar that truly captures the spirit of the Jersey Shore.
Inside Surf Dog, you’ll find a beautifully renovated dining room and bar. Classy yet casual, the intimate inside space is the perfect spot to enjoy a relaxing lunch or dinner with family and friends. Mouthwatering menu options include everything from filet mignon, to burgers, to brick oven pizza, to bar bites, allowing everyone to find a favorite. Pair your meal with a cool cocktail such as the Blueberry Martini, Surf Dog’s signature drink. Additionally, Surf Dog has 14 beers on tap which are constantly rotating. “We’re really taking advantage of the local breweries such as Cape May Brewery and Ludlam Island Brewery, a new one in the area,” Ford explained.
Outside, Surf Dog features a spacious patio with seating as well as the Sand Bar, Woodbine’s very own beach bar. Cornhole and bean bag toss boards are available on the patio, so the kids can play while mom and dad relax with a cold margarita or beer in hand. Or, the adults can play and let the children in them shine! Next to the bar is a smoker which cooks massive amounts of smoked wings and pulled pork, ready for you to indulge with Surf Dog’s homemade blackberry barbeque sauce. As the sun sets, gather around the bonfire pit and listen to the sounds of live musicians, featured three nights a week.
Connected to Surf Dog is a banquet hall, available for special events and parties. With seating for up to 100 people, Surf Dog caters your event with its delicious American cuisine.
Dedicated to providing a unique dining experience to its visitors, Surf Dog is more than just great food and service. Come check out Surf Dog’s fun atmosphere seven days a week in the summer. Surf Dog is one of the few restaurants and bars in the area that is open year-round, except in January. Be sure to take advantage of Surf Dog’s weekly specials, like Taco Tuesday and Prime Rib Night on Friday!
Surf Dog is located at 1563 DeHirsch Ave., Woodbine. For more information, call (609) 427-6011 or visit surfdogbarandgrill.com. Find Surf Dog on Facebook at “Surf Dog Bar and Grill.”
