WILDWOOD —The conventional dinner site for installation of organizations’ new officers will take on a different twist when The Greater Wildwood Hotel and Motel Association installs its newly-elected officers on Sept. 23.
This time the members of the 64-year-old organization will do it at sea, according to a release.
Ed Webs, executive director of the GWHMA, has announced that the event will take place aboard a Cape May-Lewes Ferry during a special three-hour installation tour.
What’s more there will be a re-creation of the atmosphere of the 1964 “Gilligan’s Island” TV series. Prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed characters emulated from that show including the role of Ginger Grant played by Tina Louise.
“We wanted to do something different this year and we thought this would be a fun thing to do,” Webs said. “Come join us if you dare.”
The evening, which includes hors d’oeuvres, buffet-style dinner and two hours of music, begins at 6 p.m. (5 p.m. starting boarding time) and extends until 9 p.m. Call 522-4546 for reservations.
Officers are in the process of being elected by ballot.
The Greater Wildwood Hotel and Motel Association has a membership of 160 hotels and motels and 180 other businesses on Five Mile Beach. Its present president is motel owner Steve Tecco.
