Family Promise Focuses On Shelter for Homeless

By Herald Staff

COLD SPRING — Family Promise of Cape May County will hold its next working- meeting Oct. 18.
The 7 p.m. meeting at the Cold Spring Presbyterian Church will serve as the beginning of the second phase of development for this new family-housing organization.
All community partners are invited to join the board in the collective move towards the Family Promise goal, that of providing temporary housing and support, through interfaith cooperation, for the county’s homeless children and families.
After committee reports and full project updates, Rev. Nancy Burnhart, associate pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Vineland will provide an overview of her county’s experiences.
As the church’s congregational coordinator, she also will facilitate a discussion with one of their currently assisted families, and subsequently entertain questions from the group.
Per the project’s strategic plan, it is expected that Cape May County’s Family Promise will begin housing families within the year…opening no later then September 2008.
Family Promise information will be available at the meeting.
All interested residents and congregations are invited to participate in this hands-on, county-wide, housing project.
This next meeting will take place in Price Hall, Cold Spring Presbyterian Church, 780 Seashore Road.
Call 609-368-6614 for Family Promise information, to contribute or to volunteer.
