Family Promise Focus Stays on Homeless Housing

By Herald Staff

COURT HOUSE — Family Promise housing advocates of Cape May County will hold their next Phase II meeting Nov. 15 at First Baptist Church, 101 S. Main St.
The 7 p.m. interfaith gathering will provide networking opportunities around light refreshments, committee work-time, and the chance for each congregational team to hear about their own roles in providing emergency housing for Cape May County families.
Both host and support congregations will be teaming up during the evening to learn of their tasks first hand from other seasoned congregational coordinators.
Volunteer duties and start-up activities will be outlined as each team begins preparations for taking its turn as the week’s family host, once every three months.
Family Promise of Cape May County is the local affiliate of the four-star national charity, Interfaith Hospitality Network. Its overall goal is to provide temporary, emergency housing and support, through interfaith cooperation, for the County’s homeless children and families.
Through a growing network of advocates, it is expected that Cape May County’s Family Promise will begin housing families early next fall.
Any and all interested residents, and congregations, are invited to participate in this hands-on, countywide, housing project.
Join them and/or call 609-967-7358/368-6614 for Family Promise information or to contribute.
