COURT HOUSE — On a beautiful autumn evening on Oct. 18, a group of community members came together for a special reason—to support the Thomas & Claire Brodesser, Jr. Cancer Center at Cape Regional Medical Center. With the Cape May Winery and Vineyard as the backdrop for the event, 144 people gathered for an evening of wine tasting, an array of fine foods catered by the Washington Inn, music by local musicians, a silent auction and an opportunity to hear about the amazing advances in cancer care and the state-of-the-art technology and treatment available at Cape Regional Medical Center.
Joanne Carrocino, President & CEO of Cape Regional Medical Center, shared with the guests the many new physicians who have joined Cape Regional Physicians Associates (CRPA) and introduced the newest members of the team; Anthony Masciarelli, DO and Renjy Vattasseril, MD, both Board-Certified in Gastroenterology. “The establishment of the gastroenterology practice at CRPA provides our community with services for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the digestive system and supports our efforts to expand preventative GI cancer screenings.”
“An Evening in Cape May Wine Country is an extraordinary occasion that brings our community together in support of Cape Regional Medical Center in the fight against cancer. Everyone has been touched by cancer one way or another in our community,” commented Ellen Kravet Burke, Chairman, Cape Regional Health System Board of Trustees. “Our community should be proud that Cape Regional Medical Center provides the most advanced treatment for cancer patients in Cape May County.” Dr. David Cho, Assistant Medical Director of the Brodesser Cancer Center was introduced to give an update on the state-of-the-art Varian TrueBeam Radiation technology.
Cape Regional Medical Center Foundation is engaged in a $5 million capital campaign to support the purchase of the new TrueBeam Radiation technology that was installed in the Brodesser Cancer Center in May, 2012. With the support and generosity of many in the Cape May County community, the Foundation has received $3.5 million in gifts and pledges. “It was a perfect evening to relax and support the exceptional care being provided at Cape Regional Medical Center,” stated Foundation Chairman, Arlene MacDonald. “Tonight’s proceeds of over $18,000, brings us to $3.5 million towards our $5.0 million goal.”
