COURT HOUSE — Heavy northbound traffic on Garden State Parkway, backed up through the county seat, took place on Memorial Day around noon as visitors for the three-day weekend headed home.
The annual homeward odyssey won’t have too many more years when it can be seen from the overpass at East Atlantic Avenue. That’s because overpasses will eliminate those three traffic signals on the parkway, so the homeward trip won’t be as bumper-t-bumper as it has historically been.
Construction on the temporary road, east of the parkway, that will be used during the overpass construction, has started.
Weather wise, the weekend was less than excellent. On Friday, scattered showers; then sunny, but windy and cool was the order of the days May 25 and 26.
Memorial Day was sunny in the morning, gradually warming, but no record breaking temperatures.
