The husband and wife team of cellist Eliot Bailen and flutist Susan Rotholz are Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities’ (MAC) Volunteers of the Month for July. Bailen and Rotholz live, teach and perform music in New York City. Every year they come to Cape May with the New York Chamber Ensemble (of which Bailen is artistic director) to perform in the Cape May Music Festival and have been doing so virtually since the festival’s inception. They have been integral to its success and growth over the last 28 years. Every year, the festival brings world class musicians to perform chamber, classical, orchestral, jazz, world and contemporary music to Cape May for three weeks from Memorial Day weekend to mid-June. The festival is only possible thanks to tremendous supporters like Bailen and Rotholz – both of whom donated their performances for this inaugural Friends “mini-concert.”
“We owe Eliot and Susan our deep gratitude for their long-standing support of the Cape May Music Festival,” said MAC Director Michael Zuckerman. “Over the years we have grown to think of these talented, outstanding musicians as part of the MAC family. They are so important to the success of our annual music festival; we are extremely gratified to be able to share their incredible talent with the public each year.”
The Volunteer of the Month award is given to persons who demonstrate a high degree of dedication, commitment and constancy to MAC’s volunteer program.
