Domenic F. Coletta, Jr., M.D., FAAEM, Emergency Department Medical Director Appointed to the Executive Committee of the State of New Jersey’s Trauma System Advisory Committee

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Domenic F. Coletta, Jr. M.D., FAAEM has been appointed by Governor Chris Christie to the Executive Committee of the State of New Jersey’s Trauma System Advisory Committee (STSAC). Dr. Coletta has served as the Medical Director for Cape Regional’s Emergency Department since 2011 and is a Past President of the Medical Staff at Cape Regional.
Dr. Coletta is Board-certified in Emergency Medicine. He attended Hahnemann University Medical School in Philadelphia, PA and completed his graduate medical education in Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He has served as a Ringside Physician for professional boxing since 1988 and was inducted into the NJ Boxing Hall of Fame in November 2010.
“We congratulate Dr. Coletta on this prestigious appointment to the Executive Committee of the STSAC,” stated Dr. Andrea McCoy, Chief Medical Officer at Cape Regional Health System. “Dr. Coletta’s expertise in emergency medicine and in the field of professional boxing uniquely equips him for this important role in establishing a state-wide trauma system.”
“It is truly an honor and a privilege to represent all the non-trauma center community hospitals in our state for this very important program,” stated Dr. Domenic Coletta. “I look forward to serving on the Advisory Committee.”
The State Trauma System Advisory Committee establishes best practices and standards for all trauma care providers. Their work includes developing and implementing protocols for stabilization and transfer of patients, training requirements for acute care hospital personnel, and mandatory trauma triage practices to be performed by emergency medical services providers. They work in collaboration with the American College of Surgeons Trauma Systems Evaluation and Planning Committee to establish a state-wide trauma system.
Dr. Coletta and his wife, Annette, have two children, Alexandra and Michael and reside in Marmora, NJ.
