Diller Family Donates $5,000 to Museum

STONE HARBOR — The Diller Family made a $5,000 contribution to the Stone Harbor Museum on Feb. 2 to enable the museum to begin its Historic Document Preservation Project.
In a presentation made at the Stone Harbor Borough Council meeting, William Diller, a local resident and businessman stated, “Stone Harbor’s history is my family’s history. It is a history of many families, those who were born and raised here, those who grew up here and those who spent many happy summers here creating life-long memories. The Stone Harbor Museum is the place where we can recall and re-live those memories.”
The mission of the Stone Harbor Museum is to create and operate, for residents and visitors, a Museum for the collection, preservation, and exhibition of memorabilia and archival material pertaining to the founding, history and growth of the Borough of Stone Harbor.
In anticipation of the Museum’s eventual re-location to the new Stone Harbor Branch of the Cape May County Library, the Museum Trustees have developed a plan to convert their vast collection of historic documents and photos to electronic files.
Nancy Cope, President of the Board of Trustees said; “Thanks to the generous donation from Mr. Diller’s Family, we will be able to acquire the hardware, software and technical support to allow our volunteers to electronically capture and preserve the history of Stone Harbor. When we relocate to the new County Library we will be able to utilize the latest technology to present the history of Stone Harbor to our visitors.”
