EDISON — New Jersey Association of Realtors President-Elect Allan H. “Dutch” Dechert, 41, and NJAR® Chief Executive Officer Jarrod C. Grasso, RCE, attended the 2010 National Association of Realtors® (NAR) Leader-ship Summit in Chicago, Ill. Aug. 5-6.
The Leadership Summit prepares presidents-elect and executive officers of state and local associations, commercial boards and structures, regional MLSs, and national institutes, societies, and councils for their future leadership roles.
“Echoing the Summit theme of ‘Seize the Day,’ I have become inspired to overcome the challenges of our industry, along with our troubled state and national economies, and to fulfill my duty to help NJAR® prosper in the year ahead for the benefit of our 48,000 members,” added Dechert.
“I also learned valuable lessons on expanding the reach of the association, both in the digital age and in communicating with our peers from around the country.”
NAR 2010 President-Elect Ron Phipps and other representatives from NAR provided the association leaders and future association leaders with information on integrating national programs and priorities into state and local association activities and on developing objectives for their new leadership role.
Various industry leaders presented on topics focusing on technology, leadership, law, association management and other real estate issues.
A realtor since 1981, Dechert is an active member of NAR, NJAR®, and the Cape May County Association of Realtors (CMCAOR.)
Throughout the years, he has served as a NJAR® director, division officer and committee chairperson. He served as the president of the NJAR® Governmental Research Foundation in 2006 and 2007.
Nationally, Dechert serves as a NAR director, which he had previously served as from 2002 to 2008. He is a past chair and current member of the NAR resort and second home real estate committee.
Locally, he served as president of CMCAOR in 1989. He is the broker/co-owner of Ferguson Dechert Real Estate, Inc. in Avalon.
