CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – You only have one chance to make a good impression, and customer service is important to every business and everyone living here in Cape May County. That is the reason that the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce will offer 15 customer service training programs throughout Cape May County, free of charge, held various dates from May 31 to June 28.
The Jersey Cape Experience, Serving Dreams in 2017 Front Line Tourism Training offers 10 sessions geared toward teaching staff members of tourism businesses the importance of being interactive and engaging with customers; the impact each staff member has on the county’s tourism industry; tactics for handling difficult guest situations and more. These sessions will be beneficial for employees in food and beverage, accommodations, attractions, boating and fishing, retail stores, supermarkets, housekeeping staff, gas attendants and more – basically any employee who has contact with visitors.
For tourism business managers and supervisors, three sessions will teach how to empower and motivate your staff; recognize and reinforce your staff for delivering excellent customer service; and encourage your staff to deliver your company promise and serve the dream! Managers working in food and beverage, retail management, boardwalk stores, front desk managers, the accommodations industry, etc. should take advantage of this free training to refresh your skills.
And because tourism is everyone’s business here in Cape May County, two sessions will be offered to employees in businesses that deliver products and services and support the tourism industry. These sessions will focus on understanding how you are a key player in the Jersey Cape tourism industry; recognizing your impact on the guest’s overall experience; and how to deal with difficult customers. The ideal candidate for these sessions are employees working in transportation, delivery, sales, banking, finance, real estate and supermarkets, just to name a few.
All training sessions are two hours long and are available at multiple locations and dates so that employers can send their entire staff over a variety of days. Employees must be registered to attend as part of their scheduled work day.
According to Chamber President Vicki Clark, “Some businesses have the resources to provide in-house training to their staff. However, many small businesses simply can’t afford to, and this program fills that gap. The Jersey Cape Experience, Serving Dreams in 2017 will help all workers in Cape May County understand the importance of our tourism industry. Our guests visit many, many businesses while vacationing in Cape May County and just one bad experience at one place can cause them to plan their vacation time elsewhere in the future. The goal of this program is to empower everyone working in Cape May County to deliver exceptional customer service.”
This grant-funded training is available to the business public. To register your employees, you will need your company’s FEIN Tax ID Number. To see the full schedule of workshops and register, visit www.capemaycountychamber.com/customerservice. For additional information, call (609) 465-7181.
This training is provided through a cooperative effort with Atlantic Cape Community College and the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation, and funded through a grant from the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development and the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
