County to Host Healthcare Resource Day

Freeholder Kristine Gabor and the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders invite the public to attend the county’s annual Healthcare Resource Day on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Wildwoods Convention Center. The free event, sponsored by the Cape May County Health Department, will take place from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
On hand will be key county departments that play a role in meeting community health needs such as Crest Heaven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and the Office of Aging and Disability Services. Also, there will be free screenings by the Parish Nurse Program of the Cape Regional Medical Center for blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and peripheral artery disease and fracture risk.
A major highlight of the day will be the presentation at 11 a.m., “Blood Pressure & Cholesterol; To Treat or Not to Treat” presented by Dr. Michael Boriss, Board Certified Cardiologist.
Additionally, there will be more than 30 exhibitors representing various health services provided to county residents. There will be exhibits from non profit organizations and volunteer groups such as Volunteers in Medicine, Caring For Kids, Brendan’s Fund and Gilda’s Club. Equally important, will be an array of private sector exhibitors including Bridge Counseling Services, Genesis of Cape May, and the Cape Visiting Nurse Association. There will also be exhibits on important healthcare services within the county, including, The ARC of Cape May County, NJ Family Care and Cape Regional Medical Center.
