COURT HOUSE — The County Freeholders will host the annual Tourism Conference on May 4, at the County Administration Building located at 4 Moore Road.
This year’s theme is Defining the Region – Marketing the Opportunities. The conference, which is free and open to the public, will feature a variety of speakers and topics.
Diane F. Wieland, director of the Cape May County Department of Tourism will discuss the results of the annual survey conducted on tourism spending and trends. Assemblyman Matt Milam, chair of the Assembly Tourism and the Arts Committee, will provide a statewide tourism perspective.
Destination Marketing Organizations will be the topic of F. Phyllis Oppenheimer of the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism, Cumberland County Freeholder Director Louis Magazzu will address Regional Partnerships and Joseph Savaro of the New Jersey Motorsport Park will talk about opportunities for Cape May County businesses.
Additionally, following the conference, The New Jersey Assembly Tourism and the Arts Committee will hold a public hearing in the Freeholders’ Meeting Room.
Freeholder Leonard Desiderio said, “Cape May County is doing well in the tourism industry. As we continue to work with our neighboring counties, we can expect to see even stronger growth.
By highlighting more diverse attractions we are increasing the popularity of South Jersey as a regional destination and expanding our marketing opportunities.”
