COURT HOUSE — The County Freeholders will host the annual Tourism Conference on Wed., May 4, at the County Administration Building located at 4 Moore Road in Cape May Court House, New Jersey.
This year’s theme is The “New Normal” in Tourism…Understanding the post recession customer. The conference which is free and open to the public will feature a variety of speakers and topics.
A statewide tourism perspective will be provided by Keynote Speaker Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno.
Also, Freeholder M. Susan Sheppard will introduce the new changes in the Cape May County Tourism Department.
Director of Tourism, Diane Wieland will discuss the potential of the 2011 summer season with regard to the most recent surveys conducted by the department.
Associate Director of the International School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Professor Donald Hoover, will present new marketing tools to target the traveling public.
Topics will include an update from the State Division of Travel and Tourism, Social Media & Marketing, Research and Surveys and travel trends.
Sheppard said, “One of my goals is for the Cape May County Department of Tourism to expand its research services in cooperation with Fairleigh Dickenson University to provide more expanded demographic and qualitative information to aid destination managers and planners in Cape May County with marketing challenges and concerns. ”
