County Chamber to Discuss DOL’s Revised Overtime Regulations at November Meeting

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE—A panel of industry professionals will discuss the upcoming changes to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Overtime Rules and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) at the County Chamber lunch meeting, Nov. 17. Panelists include John Marcelliano, President of Talent Management Solutions, LLC; Doug Overby, Sales Manager for CASA Payroll Services; and Mike McGuire, Firm Administrator for Fitzpatrick, Bongiovanni & Kelly, P.C.. 
Changes effective Dec. 1, 2016 include an increase in the Minimum Salary Level for an employee to be considered exempt from overtime from the current $455 per week or $23,660 per year to $913 per week or $47,476 per year. In addition, the new rules impose Automatic Adjustments to the Minimum Salary Level every three years beginning on Jan. 1, 2020. Organizations expected to impacted the most are retail shops, hotels, restaurants, call centers, small businesses and non-profits.
The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce lunch meeting will be held at Avalon Link, 1510 Route 9, Cape May Court House. Check-in is available from 11:30 a.m. with the program beginning promptly at 12 noon. Pre-paid reservations are required.
