MARMORA – United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) and members of the local community gathered June 4 in Marmora to recognize and celebrate the outstanding volunteerism of Cape May County resident Ronnie Town, who serves as Senior Public Affairs Manager at Atlantic City Electric.
“Volunteerism is at the heart of what it means to LIVE UNITED, and the work of Ronnie Town throughout Cape May County exemplifies how the collaboration and dedication of local volunteers can drive measurable, lasting Impact that none of us can achieve alone,” said John Emge, Executive Director of UWGPSNJ in Atlantic and Cape May Counties. “We are exceptionally grateful to have committed partners such as Ronnie Town and Atlantic City Electric to move our work forward.”
Town, who has been employed by Atlantic City Electric for more than 30 years, serves on several boards, including the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce and the American Red Cross Shore Chapter, in addition to chairing the Cape May County Child Placement Review and serving as Secretary of the Atlantic City Electric Political Action Committee. She has raised well over $110,000 for the ALS Association in memory of her late husband Eddie Town, and annually volunteers hundreds of hours selling rubber ducks to ensure Cape May County’s most colorful community event, United Way’s Rubber Ducky Regatta benefiting UWGPSNJ’s Impact Fund, is successful.
The event also officially kicked off the 2014 Regatta, set to launch Sunday, August 17, 2014 on Mariner’s Landing in Wildwood. Raffle tickets and souvenir ducks are available now throughout the county. To sponsor or volunteer, contact Ilise James at (609) 568-1178 or ijames@uwgpsnj.org
