CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – The Cape May County Coast Guard Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the mission and personnel stationed at USCG Training Center Cape May (TRACEN), is pleased to introduce Mike Couch as the new Executive Director responsible for advancing the organization’s mission, recruiting and motivating a team of volunteers, and general administration.
Cape May County received the prestigious “Coast Guard Community” designation from the USCG in 2015, and this foundation was established shortly after. Mr. Couch joins the organization to build upon the strong foundation built by the previous Executive Director, Nina Ranalli.
“Mike brings an enthusiasm and focus on planning, which are certain to strengthen the organization and increase the awareness of the foundation’s mission within the Cape May County community,” stated Cape May County Freeholder Will Morey, Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
“We believe that Mike’s experience in nonprofit leadership and skills in budgeting, planning and fundraising are a great addition to the foundation,” said Vicki Clark, President of the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce, who is also Vice Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. “His eagerness to become involved in the community will help us to expand the programs to achieve our core mission.”
Mr. Couch’s most recent experience was leading a financial education nonprofit in Howard County, Md. for the past five years. Prior to his nonprofit experience, his career included positions in personal financial planning as a Certified Financial Planner, and corporate finance positions with General Electric and America Online. Mike and his wife, Barb, recently relocated to Wildwood Crest after spending the last 30 years in Maryland. Mike was born and raised in South Jersey and received his BBA in Finance from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst and MBA from Loyola University Maryland.
