On Monday, April 18 from 3 to 4 p.m., Kona Ice Cape May and the NJ State Police Woodbine Station helped local kids and residents to “chill out” on a warm 72 degree Spring day. Kids and adults were each treated to a free shaved ice (water ice) of their choice. There were numerous flavors to choose from and the multi-colored lips and tongues along with lots of smiles and laughter were a testament to the enjoyment that was had by all. Woodbine Troopers even had an impromptu game of catch football with some kids. Approximately 75 people showed up for the event.
Kona Ice franchises across the Country celebrate “National Chill Out Day,” which is on Tax Day and is geared to help people relax, not be so stressed and bring a little sunshine on tax day. Upon hearing of their desire to come to Woodbine, we coordinated with them to make it a community event. By all accounts, it was a great success and a “cool” time for all!
