During the past few months, the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May has reached out in the spirit of the community to find innovative ways to promote Cape May. We brought together a core group of tourism partners; representatives included: City of Cape May, Southern Shore Regional DMO, Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities, Washington Street Mall Merchants and Cape May County Tourism.
We agreed that one of the ways to vastly improve the overall reach to our visitors was to utilize various forms of social media. In 2016, we will overlap our efforts to include cross promotion of events calendars, Facebook postings, Instagram and website sharing.
This will be an effective way to reach local, regional and national audiences. Cape May’s accolades in 2015 ranged from “Best of” from Conde’ Nast, Yahoo Travel, Good Morning America and AARP to “Top 10” in many publications and websites, including MSN Travel, Culture Trip, Thrill List, Business Insider, Buzzfeed and Huffington Post. This is a trend we would like to see continue and by banding together to highlight Cape May, this is a goal we can achieve.
Cape May County Tourism and the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May have already partnered on marketing Cape May via billboards in the Philadelphia Metro area and Pittsburgh. The Chamber has secured radio and digital ads in NYC covering the 5 boroughs, Staten Island and Long Island. The travel show schedule includes new regional shows in locations such as Cincinnati, Boston, Hartford and Washington, DC.
Our Cooperative Tourism core group will continue to meet during the year, every other month to continue the dialogue on how to promote Cape May as a premier vacation destination.
Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
